To qualify families must live in
overcrowded, substandard housing
or be unable to obtain adequate housing
through the private market.
Overcrowded are homes where more than two children share a room,
adults share a room with children, children of different sex share
a bedroom.
Families must have the ability to repay their mortgage by having a stable income.

There can be no outstanding judgments or repossessions and families must meet Habitat guidelines for debt in bad
standing. Families must be working
to bring past due accounts current.
Families must meet Habitat guidelines for outstanding debt and the debt must be
manageable within budget.
Accepted families will have a history of timely payments, stable work history, no
criminal record that poses likely future risk.
Approved families understand the importance of participating in the construction of their home and in the completion of the homes of other Habitat families. Families will provide Sweat Equity.
Families must currently live in Burke
County. Other Habitat for Humanity affiliates are available in neighboring counties.
Currently applications are taken through an application fair held once
